About the Firm

Neels Engelbrecht practice as Attorney and Conveyancer and is a specialist Conveyancer and property litigant.

The firm combines conveyancing experience of some 39 years with almost 30 years of litigation experience to enable it to offer a unique service.

Neels has acted successfully in several high court and supreme court of appeal matters notably in Municipal matters against several Municipalities.

The firm also offers a variety of other legal services, including winding up of deceased estates, general litigation erecting of trusts etcetera.

Neels engelbrecht

Neels started his career as an examiner in both the Pretoria and Johannesburg deeds offices. He gained extensive experience in all conveyancing matters for a period of 7 years.

He completed his LLB degree in 1989 at the University of Pretoria. He completed his articles with the firm Bernard L Du Plessis in Alberton and was admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer in 1992.

He commenced practicing for his own account in 1993 in Randburg and has practiced as such for the past 27 years.

He gained extensive experience in a various field of the law, inter alia the following:

Conveyancing, including transfers, bonds and notarial bonds, opening of township and sectional title registers.

Litigation, including motor vehicle accidents, general litigation, commercial litigation, collections, evictions  and divorce.

Drafting of a wide variety of agreements and contracts, inclusive of sale and lease agreements, ante nuptial contracts etc.

Neels combined his conveyancing experience with his litigation experiencing and has been specialising in property litigation for several years.

In particular he has litigated against several municipalities and was involved in several landmark cases in the high court and the Supreme court of appeal involving inter alia the interpretation of the rates act and rates policies, so called historical debt cases etcetera.

The firm prides itself on providing personal service at affordable rates.

Neels is fluent in Afrikaans English and French and has  limited German. He looks forward to offering his service to French speaking customers in South Africa.

Willem Janse van Rensburg

Willem Janse van Rensburg practices commercial litigation specializing in corporate investigations, commercial crime, anti-money laundering (AML), and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC). He was a Founding Member of the Corporate Investigation Sector (CIS) of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc, where he was a Director for more than two decades.

Since 2020 he practices for his own account in the
firm Willem Janse van Rensburg Attorney. During his career he has led corporate investigation
teams, spearheading extensive litigation in several South African jurisdictions. 

He served on the Gauteng Law Council and he acted as elected Chairperson of the Johannesburg Attorneys Association (JAA), the largest of its kind in SA, for 3 consecutive years. 

At the special request of the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Willem served as Chairman of one of
three chambers at the National Indaba for the Legal Services Charter in 2007. 

He has also attended to numerous annual prison inspections at the request of the Minister of Prisons. As an experienced and popular speaker on global anti-bribery and corruption as well as anti-money
laundering speaking regularly at conferences in South Africa and in neighbouring countries.

Willem has presented seminars and workshop to clients, attorneys and the public on Financial
Intelligence, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML).
